Making a Healthy Profit in a Slower Economy
During his presentation at the ATA Leadership Conference, Bob Costello predicted a slower economy until the end of 2008.
Keeping in mind that "the economy makes us and we make the economy", what can leaders do to be profitable in a potentially slower economy?

Get your team together to identify ways to be successful in the current business environment - do a SWOT Analysis and set new goals. Resist the tendency to 'wait it out'.

Establish or review your organizational values, vision, mission before you decide if and where you will make cuts. One of our clients has made the decision to stay committed to his value of people development because he has learned over the past year that when developed correctly, people are not a cost but an investment.

Identify ways to improve productivity of each employee, especially managers and the sales team. Can you reshuffle people or consolidate jobs? Without a 'productivity review', it's likely many hours are being spent on less productive activities.
